Irfan Hydari, Board Member,
Scientific Committee ChairIrfan Hydari is a board-certified emergency physician and a partner of Emergency Service Partners, a physician-owned group based in Central Texas. In addition to his clinical practice, he is the Medical Director of Emergency Services at an Austin-area hospital, where he also serves on the Medical Executive Committee and Quality Committee. His educational background includes a B.A. in Business Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, an M.D. from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, and residency training at the University of Texas at Houston. He also successfully completed an Advanced Post-Graduate Program in Health Management Services at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
Irfan loves to travel the world with his partner, Karey, and is newly obsessed with the game of golf. Dan Jensen, Board MemberDan Jensen has over 23 years experience in various aspects of strategy, finance and operations. Dan is formerly Director of Finance - R&D for Advanced Micro Devices. Before returning to Austin in September 2009, Dan spent two years in Canada as the Director of Finance for the $1.2B Graphics Products Group and before that he was the Director of Finance for the Greater China Region in Beijing. Dan joined AMD in May 2005 from Freescale Inc., where he held a variety of positions including financial responsibility for the Transportation & Standard Product Group $2.5B Sales and Go to Market organization. Starting in the summer of 2000, Dan spent 2.5 years in Tianjin, China with Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector as the China Country Controller with financial responsibility for the construction and start up of the >$1B MOS17 Wafer Fab, the BAT3 Assembly/Test Facilities in Tinjian and over $350M of government incentives. Prior to that he held a variety of management positions in the US and travelled extensively around the world evaluating Motorola business strategies, operations and financial systems for the Corporate Audit department. After completing dual degrees in Accounting & Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, Dan spent three years working for Coopers & Lybrand and completed the Certified Public Accountants and Certified Information Systems Auditor exams. Ray Mechler, Board MemberRay Mechler is founder and president of TMG Austin Strategies, LLC, an operations consulting firm, where he helps organizations improve performance through strategic planning, logistics optimization, project management, and event coordination. As an operations executive with over 20 years of experience, he has a proven track record of mission-focused leadership within large, complex organizations including 14 years as the Director of Network Material Services for the Seton Family of Healthcare. He holds an MBA from St. Edward’s University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ray’s commitment to the Austin community is reflected in his support of a variety of civic activities. Also an avid runner, veteran of 31 marathons, and a long time fixture of the Austin running scene, Ray has an abiding interest in health and wellness. For the past 5 years he has shared his passion for running by coaching over 200 participants in an employee wellness program. Currently Ray is Program Coordinator for 26 Miles for 26 Charities, the philanthropic organization associated with the Austin Marathon. He coaches Team 26 for 26, a group of marathon runners fundraising for one of 26 select Central Texas charities. Beth Peck, Board Member Beth Peck is a planning and project management professional
with 10+ years of experience in the health and health care fields for both
local municipalities and for-profit health care businesses. Beth has expertise in strategic
planning, relationship development, project management, client communication,
education/training, and analytics.
Beth is passionate about improving the health of individuals and the community and currently owns and operates InHabit Fitness which provides individual and small group training and education on fitness, nutrition, and change management. She enjoys running marathons, hiking with her husband, and combining traveling and exercising for active vacations. Scott Shepherd, Board Member Scott Shepherd is a Partner at Brown McCarroll, L.L.P. in Austin, Texas where he represents energy clients (small, large, private, public) on issues related to compliance, transmission development, and financing. In the past 20 years he has held roles in the Texas Office of the Attorney General and Texas Office of the Governor. Scott served more than 20 years in the United States Marine Corps both active duty and Reserves, and finished as a Lieutenant Colonel. Scott graduated from the University of Missouri. He also received his M.A. in Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at U.T. and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. Scott became involved with HealthStart because he understands the costs and dangers associated with childhood obesity and how early education can help end obesity. Kimberly Zipfel,
Board Member, Outreach Committee ChairKimberly is
currently a business consultant for Beacon Financial Group based in Dallas, Texas. She is concurrently
pursuing her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at
Austin McCombs School of Business. Over the past ten years, Kimberly has held a number of roles in the
energy finance industry, including her most recent role as the Director of
Operations and Compliance for an energy futures investment manager. |
