Intern With Us
HealthStart would not be where it is today without the great contributions of our interns. Our interns are actively involved in nearly every aspect of the organization; they are responsible for everything from the production of educational materials to managing the website to evaluation of our curriculum.
As an intern at HealthStart, you can count on doing real, significant work that makes a difference. We provide our interns with a hands-on, educational experience and are proud to have them as part of the team.
We have completed hiring for Fall 2022. If you would like to be notified when summer internships open up, please sign up below.

What do past interns have to say?
"Working for HealthStart was a rewarding and unique internship opportunity. I was able to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit and children’s health spheres. I had a lot of autonomy to choose what I wanted to focus my work on, and I always felt supported by the HealthStart team. There is a spirit of collaboration in the organization, and I enjoyed working with everyone on the team for various projects. With HealthStart there is always something new on the horizon to be working on, and my internship allowed me to challenge myself to learn more about topics like crowdfunding and media campaigns. This experience was valuable and applicable to my future career, and I made memories and forged relationships I hope to take with me into the future." - Mary Mills
"I really enjoyed working as an intern at HealthStart Foundation because of the flexible hours that allowed me to finish a degree in Web and Interactive Media Design while working as a designer." - Billie Cadle
"My name is Chynna and I was a Health Promotion Intern with HealthStart in the Fall of 2016. In this role, I helped curate a mailing list for Newsletters by sifting through local foundation tax documents, websites and social media accounts to find Board of Director's/Key Stakeholder's contact information. This internship afforded me valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and collecting intelligence on potential funding organizations. The mission of Healthstart is inspiring and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get a sense of how non-profit organizations work while also helping to make the world a healthier place." - Chynna Humphrey
"My time at HealthStart has been full of learning experiences. From learning about how to keep parts my body healthy, to how to use an editing software (Adobe premiere Pro CC). I love interning with HealthStart, because, as small as the task I'm doing may seem, I am proud to be apart of a positive contribution in the lives of many children as a result, in the betterment of society in the long run." - Aissata N'Diaye
