Chapter 1: The Caregiver Brain

Students will identify their brain as the control center for their physical well-being. Through in-class experiments they will discover how our senses inform our bodies in order to keep us safe.

Chapter 2: The Storyteller Brain

Students will understand that our likes and dislikes and emotions come from the center of the brain. Our emotions help us learn by helping us remember things.

Chapter 3: The Sage Brain

Students will know how their brain process information. Students will learn the thinking part of the brain is what helps us make healthy decisions.

Chapter 4: A Healthy Start for Brains

Students will learn what the brain is made of including protein, special fats, and water. Students will understand their brains need water, protein, special fats, and antioxidants (fruits and vegetables) to stay healthy. They will understand the importance of oxygen for the brain and that exercise is the best way for the brain to get oxygen.

1. Why is it important to take care of your brain?

2. What are at least 3 things your brain does?

3. What's your brain made of?

4. Name 3 or more foods that are good for your brain?

5. What do you need to drink for a healthy brain?

6. What does your brain need besides food and water?

7. Name 3 or more things you can do to get oxygen to your brain.
