Students will learn that muscles provide strength, balance, posture, and movement, as well as heat and energy for the body. Students will learn about foods and types of exercises that are good for their muscles. They will learn that muscles provide strength, balance, posture, and movement, as well as heat and energy for the body. Chapter 2: How they Go Students will identify the parts of the heart and lungs. They will trace the path blood makes through the heart. They will understand that the nutrients from food feed the cells in the body. Chapter 3: Muscle Motor Students will learn how the body creates and stores energy. They will understand what muscles are made of. Chapter 4: A Healthy Start for Muscles Students will learn how diet and exercise provide nutrition for muscles. They will identify foods high in iron, carbohydrates, protein, minerals, vitamin C and B-complex. They will identify exercises to keep the body aligned, flexible and strong.
