Unit 8: Water, Water Everywhere Teacher's Guide & Resource Materials
Students will understand how plants help keep the earth healthy. They will learn about the vital nutrition fruits and vegetables provide. Students will understand the connection between plants and animals. They will understand things they can do to help keep the earth healthy.

Chapter 1: Ancient History of Water
Students will understand the water on Earth is the same water since the beginning of time. They will understand the ecosystem where land meets the sea and the impact man has made of it.
Chapter 2: Layers and Layers of Water
Students will understand the different layers of the ocean and identify the creatures living in them. They will apply concepts of food chains, webs and keystone species to marine ecosystems.
Chapter 3: Deep Sea Current
Students will understand Deep Water Current and its connection to the health of the Earth. Students will learn about the oceans’ circulation and understand what happens if the oceans don’t circulate properly. Students will identify ways they can support the ocean from their own homes.
Chapter 4: Creatures Great and Small
Students will appreciate the ocean for being home to the largest mammals on the planet. They will learn the similarities and differences between kinds of whales. They will learn what each needs in order to be healthy. They will identify ways people can help these creatures survive. They will understand how we take care of ourselves when we take care of the earth.

1. Where does most of the oxygen we breathe come from?
2. Why is the circulation of the deep water in the ocean important?
3. What ways can you take care of the ocean?
4. Why are whales important to our health?
5. What are ways we can care for the whales?
